Boston's new Luxury Condos in 2020

Boston has long been a thriving hub of business, arts, and culture, but the city proved its worth in the 2010s. These past ten years have been a period of massive transition – and the latter half of the decade was marked by several new construction projects in the luxury condo space.

A City Under Construction

Boston’s period of progress started in 2015 with the opening of 22 Liberty, a gorgeous luxury condo development right on the Harbor in the Seaport District. The following year saw the rise of the Millennium Tower, a skyscraper that was once the tallest residential building in Boston before The Four Seasons was built. The next two years led to even greater developments - The Benjamin, The VIA, and Nema opened their doors in 2017, and 50 Liberty was constructed (right next to 22 Liberty) in 2018.

Building on Previous Success

The luxury condo developments from 2015-2018 were certainly impressive, but they were just the beginning of Boston’s hot streak. 2019 was an incredible year for the luxury condo industry, with the completion of three stunning residence buildings in the past year alone.

Bostonians looking to live on the water flocked to Pier 4, a new property that was already 85% sold out by 2019 year’s end. The Four Seasons at One Dalton – which is now Boston’s tallest residential building - stands at an amazing 61 stories and gives residents a taste of life in historic Back Bay. While The Archer in Beacon Hill may not officially open its doors until later this year, this luxurious development is already seeing massive interest from would-be residents.

Forthcoming Luxury Condos

What is on the horizon for Boston’s real estate market? Luxury condos – and lots of them! The years 2020-2022 are looking to be just as bright for Boston’s upper crust, as many more developments are underway.

In Seaport, condo hunters can look forward to the Echelon in 2020 and St. Regis in 2021. Those looking to live the modern life with a touch of old-fashioned charm can head to South End, where 100 Shawmut Avenue and The Quinn will be completed later this year. Luxury hotel and residences chain Raffles broke ground on their hotel and condo complex last year, with construction expected to be completed in 2021. And of course, those Bostonians that want to live in the humming Financial District can look forward to the opening of Winthrop Square Tower in 2022 (complete with a garage built by Millennium).

Raffles Breaks Ground in Back Bay

Since 1887, Raffles Hotels and Resorts has been a global leader in the luxury hotel industry. All of their properties, from the stunning Raffles Hotel in Singapore to Hotel Europejski in Warsaw, provide guests with the very best in glamour, adventure, and warm hospitality.  So, when it came time for the company to venture into the North American market, they wanted to find a neighborhood just as storied and iconic as they – and they found it in Boston’s Back Bay.

September 26, 2019, marked the official groundbreaking of Raffles Boston Back Bay hotel and residences, a mixed-use property that will stand at 40 Trinity Place, Boston, MA by 2021. This project marks the first North American property for Raffles, as well as their first collaboration with Trinity Stuart LLC (itself a partnership between Boston hoteliers Gary and Jeffrey Saunders of Saunders Hotel Group and developer Jordan Warshaw of The Noannet Group, together with their equity partner Cain International).

The 33-story, $400 million+ property is expected to carry all the trademark glamour of its Raffles hotel kinfolk. The hotel boasts 147 guest rooms and six high-end food and beverage venues for guests to enjoy. The hotel will also offer a wealth of services and amenities, including a 20-meter indoor pool, a rooftop garden, a two-story sky lobby with a stunning view of Copley Square, and of course Raffles’ famous butler service. These exceptional features – as well as the hotel’s prime location near tourist hotspots like Fenway Park – should make Raffles Boston Back Bay hotel a must-visit spot for the city’s most affluent visitors.

However, this Raffles property will not simply serve as a new Back Bay hotel; it will one day be home to luxury-seeking tourists and cosmopolitan Bostonians alike. In addition to its hotel rooms, the property will offer 146 branded residences (seven of which will be affordable housing units), from pied-a-terre suites and penthouses to one- to three-bedroom homes. Raffles residents will also have access to all of the resort’s amenities, as well as exclusive membership in the company’s loyalty program.

In addition to the prestige and elegance, the new hotel is expected to bring to Back Bay, Raffles’ latest development will provide the community with over $22 million in public benefits through street improvements, their affordable housing units, and a $13 million contribution towards affordable housing opportunities in Boston. These efforts – as well as the company’s long history of excellence in hospitality – make it clear that Raffles Boston Back Bay hotel will be a wonderful addition to this historic community.

The Quinn: South End Neighborhood

The Quinn — located at 370-380 Harrison Ave in the highly desirable New York Streets neighborhood in Boston’s South End — is now taking pre-construction reservations. The Quinn is in the middle of one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in the City, two streets from the Ink Block, which includes Boston’s flagship Whole Foods location as well as numerous restaurants and bars including Bar Mezzana, Fuji Ink Block and Lion’s Tail Food and Cocktail Bar.

The Quinn is nestled between South Boston and the Back Bay and is a short walk from all of the phenomenal dining and entertainment options in the Seaport and Financial District. Everything you need is located just steps away from The Quinn. Not only is Whole Foods just a stone’s throw away, but there are also dozens of specialty grocers in the area. The South End Open Market @ SoWa runs every year from May through October and hosts roughly twenty eclectic food trucks, local artisans, and a farmer’s market overflowing with fresh produce. Locally owned gourmet markets are scattered throughout the neighborhood.  Alternatively, The Quinn has on-site garage parking for residents. So if driving is necessary, residents will have direct access to 93, the Mass Pike and Express Route to Logan.

The South End is well-known for its rich culture. Upscale French bistros, Asian gastropubs, and oyster bars are some of the highlights in the dining scene (favorites include Aquitaine, Banyan Bar + Refuge, and B&G Oysters, respectively). However, entertainment goes way beyond dining. The Cyclorama — dating back to 1884 and famous for its copper skylight dome — hosts year-round events including theatre performances, pop-up food halls, and networking opportunities. The Griffin Museum of Photography features both emerging and well-known photographers, which rotate through the year. The Boston Center for Adult Education offers unique workshops including dance classes, Celebrity Chef classes, and computer classes.

The South End is a vibrant, sophisticated neighborhood that The Quinn is proud to call home. The luxury condos are expected to open by late Fall 2020, contact an Elevated Luxury Buyer Agent today to schedule a sales presentation with The Quinn Team.
